Blast Mitigation Windows
Explosive attacks on buildings create a rapid release of energy in the form of a shock wave. Window glass is often the weakest part of the building, breaking at low pressures compared to building components. Atek Glass works with several manufacturers to design and provide windows systems that meet the US Department of Defense blast specifications (UFC 4-010-01 Criteria Oct. 2003). In 2007, we successfully finished a large project in Sacramento California for the Navy. Currently, we have four projects with Naval engineering command in Hawaii and California. We are also working on projects for the Air force in Guam.
